CUNA, FS-ISAC and FSSCC Present: Easy and Effective Cyber-exercises for Credit Unions

Wed, Oct 17, 2018 2:00 PM EDT

The Credit Union National Association (CUNA), Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) and Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council (FSSCC) are excited to invite you to join us to discuss the value of exercises to practice incident response plans and provide insight into cyber-exercises happening around the nation aimed at protecting the financial sector.

Several factors are critical when it comes to successfully responding to cyber-incidents:
  • Detecting and stopping the incident as quickly as possible;
  • Determining what happened and when and to what data and systems;
  • Notifying members and regulators quickly; and
  • Communicating with staff to address ongoing issues or media inquiries.
The first rule in achieving success with cyber-incidents is to have a documented response plan that includes detailed procedures for how to respond. The second rule is to practice that plan to build muscle memory around what actions are taken when the alarms start sounding and the sirens are blaring and to identify any gaps in the plan before a crisis.

However, knowing how to conduct a cyber-exercise or what resources are available to help practice the plan is where many credit unions get stymied. Smaller credit unions may not have a plan or know where to start practicing; larger CUs may have the plan but have a wide range of staff they need to practice the plan with.

Join this webinar to learn how to exercise your plan; what resources are available; and other handy tips and tricks to make practicing incident response easy and effective.
