May 30, 2018

2:00pm- 3:30pm EST

In late 2017, the United States declared opioid misuse in America a public health crisis. Federal government as well as state and local organizations are mobilizing resources to address the epidemic. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Bureau of Primary Health Care in collaboration with the SAMHSA-HRSA Center for Integrated Health Solutions (CIHS) is hosting a webinar to assist health centers in implementing integrated primary care and behavioral health services to address opioid misuse. This webinar will provide vital information and cover a variety of relevant topics such as: the development of opioid misuse screening and assessment protocols, motivational interviewing techniques in integrated care settings, implementing medication assisted treatment services (MAT), how to treat individuals with opioid use disorders who may also have multiple chronic conditions. In addition, presenters will discuss how health centers can train and sustain their substance use disorder treatment workforce.

After this webinar, participants will:
  • Identify the key components of a successful integrated care model to treat persons with opioid use disorders and chronic health conditions in rural health settings
  • Develop motivational interviewing skills in a primary care setting as it relates to opioid use disorder
