Hormone Therapy for Menopausal Symptoms

For decades, experts said menopausal hormone therapy (HT) was beneficial…and in the 1990’s it was used to prevent chronic conditions. Then the Women’s Health Initiative altered things in the early 2000’s…showing that combination HT increased the risk of breast cancer and CV disease. The pendulum is swinging back again, and landing near the middle.

This month's TRC Hot Topic webinar features an expert panel discussion on hormone therapy for menopausal symptoms. Listen as JoAnn Pinkerton, MD, Cynthia Stuenkel, MD, and other panelists give guidance on:

  • When is hormone therapy most appropriate for postmenopausal women?
  • How does hormone therapy impact risk in women without a history of breast cancer?
  • Can women with a family history of breast cancer use hormone therapy?
  • Can women with cardiovascular risk factors use hormone therapy?
  • How long should hormone therapy be continued?
