The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is a nationally representative survey of states and territories within the United States. The BRFSS is used to collect data about United States adults regarding their health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, and use of preventive services. Results of the BRFSS have been used to help develop health promotion activities across the country. States can leverage findings from the BRFSS cognitive decline and caregiver modules to influence changes in their long-term services and supports systems and to educate decision makers.
