Boardmaker Online in the Secondary Classroom



 DESCRIPTION:  You  know Boardmaker Online as the go-to for creating symbol-based  materials to use with your students to support communication,  emotional regulation, positive behavior, and instruction.  If you  work with secondary students, you know that symbol supports are not  just for students in primary grades.  Come to this webinar to learn  how to use Boardmaker Online to support your secondary students.  We  will explore shared activities that are already made, and we will  use activity starter templates to create activities that are  engaging, instructive, and age-appropriate for your tweens and  teens.   .1 ASHA CEUs offered.

  • Provide 2 examples for each category  of the following categories of visual supports: environmental,  communicative, regulatory, and instructional.
  • List 3 considerations for providing  age-appropriate instructional materials in secondary  classrooms.
  • Describe the process for finding  activities on the Boardmaker Online Community that are appropriate  for secondary students.
  • List 4 activity starter templates  within Boardmaker Online for creating instructional activities for  secondary students

Sandy Klindworth is a speech  language pathologist with over 30 years’ experience working with  children with complex communication needs.  Prior to coming to  Tobii Dynavox in 2007 she had a long career as a school-based SLP  and then worked in her own, AAC-focused private practice. She has  been a member of the Boardmaker Implementation Team for 2  years.
