The FDA proposed a rule to establish standards for growing, harvesting, packing, and holding produce for human consumption. It has been determined that the proposed rule may significantly affect the quality of the human environment; therefore, the FDA is preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) to examine the potential impacts in more detail, consider alternatives, and involve the public.

The purpose of this scoping meeting is to inform the public of the provisions of the proposed rule that may significantly affect the quality of the human environment, present alternatives that the FDA is considering to analyze in the EIS, inform public participants on the NEPA process, solicit oral stakeholder and public comments on the scope of the EIS, and respond to questions about the EIS.

Oral and written comments will be accepted at the public scoping meeting. Please submit a written copy of any oral comments provided during the meeting to the Docket.

Please use the form below to register for the public scoping meeting. You can attend either in person or via the live Webcast. Photo identification will be required for access to the Wiley building.
